WAKONDA FARM STAFF 

Lucy Caruso, Owner and trainer has been involved with horses for over 45 years.  Her love for Horses has followed her throughout her entire life.  She has many years of experience teaching and training many types of disciplines with a variety of breeds.  Lucy  has been through many trials in her lifetime and has inspired many to follow their dreams with her fast read motivational short story "Galloping Through the Fog" .  

Kim DiMatteo, Our head instructor, has been riding since she could walk.  Throughout her riding carreer, she has shown successfully and has placed champion in Western Pleasure, English Pleasure, Hunt Seat Equitation and Appaloosa Pleasure.  In her younger years she was champion in Road Hack, Gaited Horses, Riding and Driving.  Over the years she has succeeded in accomplishing many goals.  A mother of three children, Kim is a partner of a successful insurance Agency {DiMatteo Insurance}. Her numerous accomplishments in both her business and personal life have been recognized by her peers, as she was given the prestigious 2005 Woman of the Year Award by the Fairfield County Home Builders Association.  She has been a positive role model to our Barn Family as well as an excellent trainer to our young horses.

Stacey Hoppes, Instructor/Trainer has been involved in equestrian activities since she was young.  Stacey started riding horses when she was 7 years old at Silver Horseshoe Stables with trainer Susan Ambrose.   Her love for horses has followed her throughout her life.  She attended Centenary College and Teikyo Post University where she majored in Equine Science and Management.  She competed on the Intercollegiate Equestrian teams at both colleges.  Stacey has apprenticed here at Wakonda Farm while attending school and has grown to be an important attribute of our farm family.  She has learned the technique of caring for horses as well as becoming a trainer and mentor for our younger riders.  

Our Business

Wakonda Farm has been in operation as a horse farm and lesson program facility for over 45 years.  Our Farm is a family owned operation and has all programs for individuals interested in horses.  We have shown successfully in many disciplines.  Our goal is to help all riders, children and adults, enjoy the sport of riding.
